Last night we headed back to our old neighborhood and went to see the Royal Canadian Mounted Police Musical Ride. The only are in Ottawa for 5 days in the summer and it is free - so go!
We did not make good seating choices and the first half was dust in sunlight, but by the end the Canadian sunset did not disappoint!
They played two anthems. It looked like only people over 60 - 80 either knew all the words to 'God Save the Queen' or maybe felt comfortable belting it out, I don't know? My ever helpful husband was ready to sing the words to 'My Country 'Tis of Thee' instead...
Also, the mother sitting next to us scolded her son fiercely after the playing of 'Oh, Canada' - 'WHY are you so naughty!? You should be like THAT boy (pointing to our middle son) he stood still and was polite and sang beautifully!' It was all I could do to not lean over and add 'and he's NOT even Canadian!'
